does anyone claim for home laundry???

we run a coffee shop and 3 times a week bring the teatowels etc home to be washed and tumble dried. We can claim this as a business expense but I was wondering if everyone who does this did what my accountant suggested which is to turn off everything in the house and then do the washing and calculate the units used, surely there must be a simpler calculation??
does anyone claim for this and how much do you claim for????

thanks in advance

  • I work on the London Underground as an electrician during engineering hours and my work stuff gets rotten.
I put in £7 a week for laundry. Works out £1 a day. I put a wash on for work gear a few times a week and use twice as much detergent as a normal wash. I have no receipts as I use domestic stuff for my own personal clothes.

Havent had any complaints from my accountant yet. Ill be seeing him again in a few weeks......

If they do complain then Ill buy the detergent, put the receipts in and do my persoanl wash in with the work gear at the same time.

Sings and roundabouts as far as Im concerned. Its cheaper then going to the dry cleaners with it who wants £15-£20 a time.
