Ironing water

Hi,
I've got a fairy new iron and noticed when I'd ran out of ironing water and filled it up with tap water it was fine for a few days until I left it, unused for 10ish days. Then when I ironed again it made my shirt smell all too unpleasant. Has anyone else noticed this?
I'm not in a particularly bad area for water, I drink it all the time and it tastes the same as any other.
Any suggestions on how to make home-made ironing water as it seems to get used up pretty quick with the steam turned on.
Thanks

I've always used ordinary tap water in my iron and had no problems. Do you empty the water out after ironing?0

You should use boiled water from the kettle if you live in a hard water area, to prevent the iron from scaling up.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
