Im not scared of becoming BR infact I see it as a fresh start, Im just scared the OR will report me and I will get done for fraud
4 n ahalf years ago I met this guy absolute whirlwind romance, I had about 10k in the bank, so after just 5 months I bought a house with him, (using my 10K) it went horribly wrong, he was constantly coming and going, i tried again and again to make it work, I even got a secured loan to pay his gambling debt, (I was pregnant with his child at this point) and felt I had to try everything.
Because there was no proper commitment from him and he was in and out as he pleased I claimed single person WFTC, the whole time, he hasn't been back here for 18 months now, but Im so frightened of the OR will look back and reporting my to the Inland Revenue
i.e If you lived alone, how come you git a secured loan with this man?
The reason is: - I was desperate to sort out his problems, and for him to settle down with me and grow old with me ,
Im so scared now I can't function, the truth is he did pay half toward the mortgage for a bit, but then he would also take my bank card from my house and blow 50 a time on a horse race.
Ive been so silly

your not silly, other people on here have done daft things, even me! when you were claiming WFTC, was he working? if he wasnt then surely you would have been entitled to it anyway. I cant see that the OR would that deep into your affairs and start looking at whether you were entitled to whatever benefit you were claiming. Im sure other people will sympathise with you and offer their side of experience too. Dont be scared, just keep posting and everyone will do the best they can. As regards to the not sleeping and eating bit, i wholly understand, as do many others on here, it will get better.0 -
It is possible to get a secured loan if you dont live with someone, I doubt the OR would report you, if he did you may have to pay back the cash but surly that would also be included in the BR, As far as im aware they only look back 2 years, but thats looking back at purchases you have made not income you have had? may be wrong on this, they are looking to see if you have acted wrongly regarding the BR, done things like taken out a loan and had a massive holliday knowing you were going BR
We all make stupid mistakes when we are involved with other people (male or female) Try to concentrate on one thing at a time, what ever happens happens, you will deal with it. This board is great for support, also talk to family and friends dont be alone. good luck0 -
Hi keepmyhouse,
The O.R isn't an agent of the WFTC administration. S/he will have enough of a workload without going into great detail as to whether you technically qualified for all the tax credits you received.
Show me somebody who hasn't been under/over paid tax credits, and I'll show you somebody who's lived on the moon for the last five years.
You won't be done for fraud; you're not guilty of it. When it comes to the O.R interview don't even elaborate on tax credits. As for the secured loan in joint names, it'll scarcely warrant a mention.
Regards

Hiya Hun, we all do daft things believe me!!!
From your post I can`t tell if he is on the mtge / secured loan. If so then if you go BR any joint commitment will fall to him anyway !! Will serve him right...that old saying `what goes around, comes around` may apply.
What is done ..is done...time to move on I think. I doubt whether the issues of WFTC will even be raised from so long ago.
