If it's not one thing it's something else!
Ten years ago. I returned to teaching after taking early retirement. If in this job you retire and then return, your earnings are limited ie salary of reference. I could sweep the roads, no problem but not teach.
Anyway I informed Teachers Pensions before I started and asked them to freeze my pension. That was the beginning of two years correspondence. Needless to say they didn't. I should have kept the pension to one side but I didn't and finally it was agreed that I would repay £200 per month. They would take it from the pension.....and I forgot about it. Later I cut my hours so the problem didn't arise.
Now they want all the information so I could be faced with a bill of about £5000......because I'm not sure whether they took the £200 or not. My pension kept changing and as I was earning I wasn't over concerned.
Then my file 'got lost.' However after the agreement to repay the £200 I didn't hear anymore from them.
So the questions really are......could this debt be included in my bankruptcy?
What on earth do I do if they stop my pension? I suppose I would be eligible for all the benefits I've never been able to have.
I'm really worried about this as I thought I'd finally got my life sorted.

Just out of interest I went onto the entitled web site should they decide to freeze my pension. The difference is approx. £100 per month and with the Council Tax wiped I would break about even but get free dental treatement etc etc etc on top.
Why did I work so long and so hard?

Hi Nancy,
Only thing I can suggest is an email to either your examiner or the IS. I suspect that as your question is so specialised, that no-one will be able to give any specific guidance.0
