    Whitening £300 - £800

    Braces approx £2000-3000

Depending on systems used & Complexity.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

    That's a good price.

The fact it's at an NHS dentist is neither here nor there though. Bleaching isn't available on the NHS.

Is that just for the uppers? Or full mouth?

This is something I would love to have done.

I realise the time span would be different for each person having this treatment, depending on whether they smoke or drink red wine a lot, etc etc, but does the bleaching last long?

Is it something you generally need doing every 6-12 months?

Would anyone that has had it done recommend it or advise against it?

It can last a very long time. Some people like to 'top it up' every now and again, but it's not always necessary.

There are 'in surgery' treatments and gel/tray take home systems. the 'in practice' systems give quicker results, but may fade quicker. These also tend to be dearer.

I've done it to myself, and was and still am very pleased with the results.

It can cause a bit of sensitivity during treatment.

Ask your dentist about it next time you're in. It's not suitable for everybody, as it has no effect on porcelain or white filling, so if you have some of these at the front of your smile, they may show up more if it was done.
