Hi everyone, I'm sure you can give me some great ideas - a good friend of mine and her husband have just had their first baby (a girl). I want to get them a gift obviously, but have you got any ideas of practical things?
Any new Mums out there can recommend things they were given that you thought were really useful/helpful?
I'm sure they'll be innundated with clothes and toys
I've seen the thread on nappy cakes which I think are amazing, but unfortunately a little beyond my capabilites!!

thanks, thats really kind. I think I'll give it a go. I'll pop in to town on my lunchbreak tomorrow to get a few bits and bobs. Which age/size nappy would you suggest? The baby is 6lb something, but I presume they'll have a stock of nappies already0

Check out the nappy cake thread on here. They are baby gifts that look like cakes but are made from nappies. Sounds wierd doesn't it? Heres a pic of a mamas and papas one i made up for a friend:
I always use Pampers Newborn size 2 because I prefer the nappies to be plain. But a lot of the others on the nappy cake thread use size 3 and different brands. If you are planning on covering the 3rd and 2 nd tier with muslins etc it doesn't really matter. Because I prefer to keep mine plain I stick to the size 2 pampers. They fit up to 13lb but if you bigger it will last longer. I also put sleepsuits, vests, toiletries inside. Dont forget a baby blanket for the bottom tier, plenty of elastic bands and ribbons. Good luck xxLittle Miss Chatterbox
