Just A Couple Of Questions

HI JUST GOT A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS FOR ANYONE IN THE KNOW.
FIRSTLY I HAVE A 1/2& 1/2 MORTGAGE WITH £10,000 ENDOWMENT & ABOUT £5,000 LEFT ON A REPAYMENT WHICH IS ALL ON A +1/2% TRACKER.
THIS HAS ABOUT 2 1/2 YEARS LEFT TO RUN I'VE ABOUT £6,000 IN AN ISA & £1,000 IN SAVINGS & HAVE JUST BEEN LEFT £8,000 IN MY DADS WILL.
SO I COULD PAY THE FULL MORTGAGE OFF.
OR I COULD LEAVE THE ISA'S WHERE THEY ARE & PUT THE REST IN A HIGH SAVINGS ACCOUNT IF THERE ARE ANY ABOUT.
LASTLY I HAVE MY ENDOWMENT WITH THE CO-OP or C.I.S. WHICH UP TO 6 MONTHS AGO WAS STILL ON TRACK (1 OF THE VERY FEW) .
I HAVE TO CHECK BUT AM I BETTER CASHING IN THE ENDOWMENT (MY BROTHER HAS LOST WELL OVER £1,000 IN ABOUT 6 MONTHS WITH HIS ENDOWMENT IT WAS WORTH £8,500 NOW HE CALLED THEM LAST WEEK & THEY TOLD HIM IT WAS WORTH JUST OVER £7,000. I DON'T KNOW WHO HIS ENDOWMENT WAS WITH).
SO THESE ARE MY QUESTIONS:
DO I PAY OFF MY MORTGAGE OR NOT .?
DO I CASH IN MY ENDOWMENT OR LEAVE IT.?
CAN I STILL COMPLAIN/GET COMPENSATION IF IT IS WAY BELOW WHAT THEY TOLD ME?
THANKS:money:

  • 1. Do I pay off my mortgage? Look like you're on a good tracker (+0.5%?) so not paying much interest. What are you receiving on your savings? Do you pay tax? You could look at a fixed term account for your Dad's money (sorry about your loss).

    2. Endowment - you'll need to add more detail for the 'experts' here, e.g. who it is with, guaranteed sum assured, declared bonuses to date, monthly contribution, forecast figures etc.

    3. Complaining - were you mis-sold, or are you just unhappy it's not paying out as much as you'd hoped? You can only complain if you were mis-sold, not because the stock market is a mess.

P.S. - it's difficult (for me) to read all capitals, and some people may think you're shouting.

sorry just didn't turn the caps off.
the endowments with c.i.s or co-op.
they told me when they sold it to me it would clear my mortgage & give me quite a bit of extra cash.
i'm not too bothered about the extra cash but am now worried about not paying enough to clear the mortgage.
i've no idea what sort of endowment policy it is i thought they were all the same. (i'll have to look for the paperwork). it was just on track about 6 months ago so i wasn't too concened about it until my brother told me about his.
i'm only paying £16 per month endowment.
as i say the forcast figure was in track 6 months ago.
i can put £3500 straight into an isa as i didn't put any in this year.& the rest into a high interest account so if i choose wisely maybe i will be as well off just banking the money.
so my main concern is my endowment policy.
even though being clear of my mortgage sounds sooooo goooooood.......
