SA online

in Cutting tax
Hi, after a little help from someone on here i think i have finally sorted my SA online. But when i was doing that the website said that i owed £100 late fee from last year - i didn't know anything about this untill then. I did return on paper last year, i knew it was probably going to be late as i wasn't very organised so i happily paid the £100 late fee - my fault for not being organised. But the website is saying that last years return has never been recieved and i owe another £100 late fee.
Can i submit it again online as i still have all the information? or do i need to ring them about this? (will they be understanding and talk English - not just the language as in simple terms)? And i don't believe i owe any tax so will i get the fees refunded?
Thank you if anyone knows

You will have to do any outstanding return for a previous year on paper.
You can phone and order it, or download and print out the return and any supplementary pages needed from the HMRC website
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/sa/forms/content.htm
There is 1 penalty charged when a return is not received, and another one if it still isn't received 6 months later, this is likely what you can see online. If your return wasn't received, hasn't been logged as received this will happen.
If you don't owe anything for the year you are completing the return for, when it is received and dealt with, any penalties you have been charged will reduce to zero. If you owe between 1p and £100 the penalty will reduce to the amount you owe. If you owe over £100 the penalty will stay at £100.

I hope that's simple enough :-) You'll find that the contact centre staff really aren't interested in whether you've done it 'wrong' etc in the past, only what you should be doing/giving you the help you need to get it right.Nothing's free.....but we'll see what we can do!0 -
I would ring them as if you've already submitted it then it may be a mistake on their system - it happens regularly from my experience. It is strange that you've not had any correspondence from them if they really didn't get your last years return.....0

Thank you, i'll give them a ring and try and get to the bottom of it. I'm not too concerned as i don't owe anything and should get a refund on the fee if its as simple as just returning it again. Thanks againLife isn't about waiting for the storm to pass,it's about learning to dance in the rain.0
