SA online - getting rid of payments on account when no longer self-employed?

Hi - I've made it to the end of my online return, but got a nasty surprise when the calculation included a request for payment on account when I'm no longer self-employed. I entered the date my business ceased, thinking that it would automatically recognise that I'm no longer self-employed but obviously not.
If I don't have any joy sorting this out, should I just pay the amount minus this figure and sort it out with HRMC later, or will this incur a penalty?
Any advice very welcome.

There is a form you can fill in, I managed to do it online last year as part of the self assessment.
Its called something like, " aaplication to reduce payment on account" you enter the reason why. So you can just put that you will have no self employed earnings.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Hi - thanks for this, have done some more digging around on HRMC website and I think it is called SA3030

You can also reduce your payments on account over the telephone, you do have to have a good reason though, such as no longer being self employed.
There is a box online to reduce your payments on account, but there's a problem with it not reducing the payments.
Phoning is your best option as an SA303 being sent in will take a while to deal with.Nothing's free.....but we'll see what we can do!0 -
Thanks - it actually sorted itself when I hit submit, as it asks if you want to reduce payments and why, then reduces accordingly!0
