Bank Account - I don't have one

  • Thanks for all of your replies :)

Unfortunately I was turned down for a cashminder account with the co-op but I would like to try opening an account with Barclays instead.....I live in a small town and we have a Barclays but not a co-op.....nearest co-op is about a 50 min drive away and although I'd like to manage my account online if possible, I like to know I can nip in and speak to someone with a face if I need to! :)

I'm sending off my licence to DVLA soon to update my address but when I get it back I will give Barclays a go.

I haven't tried looking at my credit history.....to be honest I find it too daunting.

Thanks again to All for taking the time to reply to me.

    RRD :)

I have no account after Co Op closed my account due to the 3 strikes rule. I have a PO card account for benefit payments and a cashplus card. It costs either 99p per transaction or you can pay 4.95 per month, which is best if you have a lot of payments to make each month. You can have benefit paid into it but you need to send cashplus the letter you received saying what benefit you would get and how much, so they can locate your benefit payments on the system when they are made. I have monthly payments taken from it, like a DD, to pay for Sky tv and my phone. You can manage your account online and its a good card to have.

I tried Barclays, and despite them accepting undischarged bankrupts (Im discharged) they refused me an account.
