john lewis website

hello,
just wondered if anyone had used the john lewis website for delivery in northern ireland?
it says free delivery for all items but when I look through the small print it doesnt say it excludes northern ireland - is this true.
anyone have dealings in the past with them - if so was the delivery quick enough and what courier did they use (royal mail, citylink or other)?
thanks.

    Hi

I've used them a number of times - they delivered free of charge all the way to Newry, no hassle, no questions - they stuck to what they offer on their site.

Regards which courier they use, sorry I don't know, I was too busy ripping the packages open to notice. Maybe a wee tinkle to their customer services might give you the answer, especially if you are looking to order something big (I ordered shoes, jewellery and such like).
  • Yes I've used them too, great service and NI is treated same as UK as off course it should be..

Just last week I ordered a small item from their website and opted for the free delivery route expecting it to take 5 working days. It arrived 2 days later.

However, last summer I ordered a gas fire from them. They took the money immediately and 4 weeks later they decided to email to say they didn't deliver to Northern Ireland. I was not a happy muppet but they did come through on the smaller item so one wonders if size really does matter :)

  • I ordered a 32" inch tv and they delivered it here (Dungannon area) free of charge. The courier was Bond Delivery but i don't know if they solely use them. Delivery was a few days over but for free delivery of a large item i wasn't bothered, not sure whether the slow delivery was John Lewis or the aforementioned courier. Hope this helps.
  • John Lewis have a big enough profit margin to give free delivery. There TV's are about 25% more expensive than the competion. They do offer to price match but what they do is take 5 days to do it. If the place they are price matching either temporaraly run of stock or don't answer the phone then they don't match the price. Advice is to shop around for best deal .

I ordered an item from them before Christmas 2008, and it arrived in 2 days. It was cheaper than I could purchase it in Argos and Argos didn't have it in stock. Postage was free!! :j

I don't know who delivered it as I wasn't at home when the parcel was delivered.
