Council Visitation Next Week ..

Hi,

The local council have arranged without my consent a visitation next week I think its to see whether or not I'm still eligible for council tax benefit.

Can you please tell me is this normal procedure?

Can you please tell me should I be worried?

Regards,

Robert Gaz.

  • It will be to check if your accomodation is suitable for what you are making a claim for.

If say you were living in a 5 bed house and only 2 people in it then they could perhaps only give you a smaller rebate

You should be worried if you have made a false claim, but if not, no reason to be worried.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
  • When I was claiming housing and council tax benefit, I used to get a visit once a year as I had to reclaim for it every year and they said it was quicker for someone to be with you filling out the forms, plus they could take any documents with them that they needed. It still took them 3 months to sort out the paperwork though!!!
I cancelled mine in the end as I was only getting a minimal amount and it seemed like such hassle every year just to get £5 a week!!

    Hi
Shame you didn't claim your entitlement.I would assume you will need to earn at work
£340 less deductions to get that amount back.
How many hours would you need to work for £340?Makes the hassle worthwhile. There may be another claim next year.

I understand. What I have put on my claim form is what they will see when they arrive this week.

    Thank you for your reply.
