Hi All

in the late 80s i was "advised" to contact out like every one else
in the 90s I joined my then company final salary scheme I think at that point they got it ?
but ive been out of that scheme for about 5 years I have no idea where its going I think id like to contract back in if its not to late but how do I find out were its going ?

Try the Pension Tracing service;
http://www.thepensionservice.gov.uk/atoz/atozdetailed/pensiontracing.aspI no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -
Out of interest which pros and cons have you considered in your decision to contract back in?
Also, contracting out with an occupational scheme is different to contracting out on a personal pension.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

If you were not in any company scheme at the time, then a personal pension must have been opened for you at an insurance company to receive the contributions.in the 90s I joined my then company final salary scheme I think at that point they got it ?
Not necessarily - they might have been contracted in.but I"ve been out of that scheme for about 5 years I have no idea where it's going
If you didn't hear anything 5 years ago, sounds possible that it's been going into the original pension all along.
Sure you can't remember the name of the company you signed up with when you were advised to contract out? Abbey, Lincoln, Allied Crow...er Dunbar, something like that, maybe?
You'd know if you were in Equitable Life, I imagineTrying to keep it simple...0
