Help Please - Reasonably Priced Vitamins

Does anybody know the best place to get reasonably priced, veggie multivitamin and mineral tablets? I've previously just went in to Boots or Holland and Barrett but they do seem quite pricey. Especially the veggie ones which I don't often see on offer.
There are lots of places to buy online but i'm nervous about using an unknown brand or supplier without recommendation.
Also wondering - is this something I could get on a bulk prescription as a more cost effective option? I have lots of allergies and intolerances which make my diet so limited.
Thanks all.

Healthspan are a good online source of vitamins and supplements, and they have a range of veggie friendly products:

Thanks Zenseeker. These seem a more reasonable price and plenty information available pre-purchase.0

I'm a veggie & I always buy Tescos own vitamins & minerals. They are just as good as leading brands and are reasonably priced.0

You need to remember that there is a big difference in the quality of products and don't just shop on price. Many cheap vitamins have fillers and additives and do not get into the body very well (false enconomy). A very good allround vitamin and mineral supplement with a non gelatin capsule is G&G mega2000: can be found at:

It is possible to same have supplements allowed on prescription if you ask your GP, but it is at their discression.0 -
You don't need to take supplements just because you are a vegetarian but I accept that your diet may be limited esp if you are intolerant to wholegrains, even so we need relatively small amounts of both so you may be better off researching wider food options to get the balance right. Nutrients are far better absorbed through food, excessing on vits under the mistaken belief of health benefits produces expensive pee and hole-y pockets. Not MSE
.
Don't expect your GP to prescribe VMS unless there is a diagnosed deficiency (extremely rare unless you have a chronic alcohol problem - defined malabsorption disorders may be treated by other means). On the few occasions scripts are offered bog standard preps are supplied anyway, nothing fancy. You are better off visiting your local pharmacist to discuss your individual dietary requirements. If after consultation you decide do still need a supplement don't hesitate to buy the cheapest licensed generic item rather than a brand, they are just as good whatever the naysayers may think. Also very MSE

I have bought from this site several times, with no problems. Of course, I dont know how the prices compare for your particular products, but worth a look.

I've used Healthspan, and also Healthy Direct, both are very good.
However, it really depends on the supplements you want - sometimes Holland and Barratt is genuinely the cheapest (e.g. calcium/magnesium tablets)0 -
I used to shop with Vitamins Direct but since joining MSE have found that Healthy Direct are much cheaper and were very quick.
The online suppliers generally sell supplements in much bigger quantities which is very economical and much cheaper than Boots or Holland and Barrett.somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0 -
Thanks all.
I'm a veggie, can't take dairy, root veg or certain fruits so my diet is pretty limited. The soya products I use all have added vitamins and calcium so that must help. However I am pretty sure that I am anaemic - especially at certain times of the month. Been getting dizzy, weak, palpitations, shakes etc. Plus seem to be getting what I think is low blood sugar a fair bit. Going to get a check over with the doc but I am pretty sure it's related to my diet.
Figure i'll try a supplement for a couple of months and see if it makes any difference.
Thanks again.0
