Salary Issue Relating Back to 2002

I have only just identified a significant error in my payslip that dates back to 2002. The problem is that this error has followed through to 2008 and has been increasing year on year.

Do I have any rights to ask my employeer to correct this error for all of the years dating back to 2002?

Robert

Some more information would be helpful - what sort of error? Does it involve tax paid etc.

I am no expert so would not be sure whether there would be a six year limit on something like this. I am sure a brainbox will be able to answer that as there are plenty of knowitalls on MSE.

I had a simular issue as yours, I noticed the mistake and asked collegues if they had the same error, which they didn't

Spoke to my HR department, and got it back dated

Put it down to a keying error,

They listened and reacted, but was a large company and peers did not have the same error.

Are other people doing a simular job, could you talk to your peers?

It relates to the actual salary that I should have been receiving and was about £2000 in error (less than).

it's worth asking. if they'd overpaid you they'd be asking for it back
current debt as at 10/01/11- £1250

what documentation do you have to show an error has been made, why did you not notice it over 6years (This is what you will be asked!)

Main thing is to get your salary sorted from today on.

Anything that happens over and above that is a bonus.

The error occurred as a result of me going onto a Long Term Sick Insurance Program and 75% salary. There was a mix-up on my actual annual pay at the time and all 3 parties thought this was sorted. It's now clear that this was not the case.

    I can prove the error.

Is there any legal timeframe that I can ask for this to be corrected?

no legal timescale as such, this is down up to the point of the 'goodwill' of your employer and their ability to see the error they have made,

They they will see exactly how much we are talking about
