Unfair Dismissal Advice

  • PS I did raise a tribunal and represent myself*, so if you open a new thread I will happily respond. Please don't PM me about it (yet) though as I would like any advice I give (and I am just a private individual, not a lawyer) to be available to the whole board, not just one person. :)

    *and I won.

Amen to that - if everything went off-board via PM, then the Boards would be redundant!!

There are ways to disguise who you are even if you post a lot of detail about yourself and the circumstances. No-one has ever guessed who I am even though I know many people who post and/or read MSE. Mind you, I've not guessed the identity of those I know either ! :rotfl:

Good that you won - would be great to have your input if the OP posts more :T
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)
  • I know too many peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniacs to be able to guess who you are, sadly! :D

OMG - a man who understands women :D

Or another peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac  :rotfl:

  • The latter! Whoops, thanked you by mistake, thus proving the assertion.....

Thank you everyone who has replied to my query. I joined the union when I was notified of the allegations. I was advised that the union would not help because I joined after the accusations.

The employment tribunal advised me that they forwarded a copy of my ET1 form to ACAS and my former employer.

A brief account of my case:
I was dismissed for gross misconduct. Allegedly took money for my own gain. I had more than 2 interviews through which a recording device was used but i never got a copy of it. The minutes were not signed on the days of the interviews and I did not get copies then. When I finally got the copies, they were inaccurate. My emplyer claimed to have used a mystery shopper. When i requested the mystery shopper's report, it was not provided. By the way, I had never been advised of mystery shopping policies. To my suprise they mystery shopper was not indepent. I found out when I got the minutes.

Ladies and gentlemen, its a very very long story. The matter has been passed onto the tribunal. I'm requesting for help on how the whole process will be. I believe the case will go further to the hearing. Like I said I can not afford legal costs. Has anyone represented them selves before? I'm so frustrated and depressed, cant sleep and I have lost weight.

How do I prepare my self?
How do I present my statement?
What kind of questions am I likely to be asked during the hearing?

Your responses will be much appreciated.
  • Mosdee, I think it would be useful to start a thread (which should be a sticky!) on how to prepare for an ET. I will try to start one later today when I have more time!

(I stress that I am NOT a lawyer. I am a senior manager who has appeared at ET, and I have represented myself against my employer in the past and won).
