Hi Folks,
Has anyone got cavity wall insulation installed recently? I've been thinking about it and it seems there are grants available to keep the cost down.
Any advice would be great!
Thanks,
BatCat

Batcat. Had mine done about 6 months ago. 4 bed 1940s semi spewing out heat. Phone this lot for details of whether you are entitled.

Mainly grants for benefit claimants but they also do them for Mr tax payer, although there is a limited amount(allegedly)
Anyway, Cost £425 quid, of which £150 was reimbursed via a grant. Definitely worth it with fuel prices rising, this should also shorten the break even period. Also makes the house that bit more comfortable. Our house is a relatively large semi as this was the guideline price for a detached, therefor standard 3 bed semi should be about £100 less
We used DCI energy, who were fine but i can't help but feel that they upped the price as they knew the grant was covering £150. Only a gut feeling so don't quote me apart from that no qualms over workmanship. Have seen them up my street doing at least another 3 or 4 houses since.
Rgds

HI Batcat,
Try Bryson house, they do a lot of energy type things but as they are a charity they don't charge as much as others.
I had quotes a few years ago and Bryson house was cheaper before the grants (ie their full price) than all the other companies I talked to after they took of the grants (ie their discounted price)
Didn't get it done in the end as the house had been done by a previous owner and I hadn't realised.
My info on this is a few years old, but it may still be true.
