HMRC self assessment online tax calculator problem.

Good evening,
At what stage does the calculator show your total tax and nic liability, including payments on account from the previous year deducted from this years liability.
I am 90% through the return, all my data is in and my tax and nic has been calculated, but it states that this figure does not take any monies that may have been paid on account into consideration.
I realise I can see monies on account elsewhere on the site, but I'm reticent to file this return in case I've done something wrong like ticking a box I shouldn't have done that excludes monies on account.
If I enter the next stage of filing the return, will I at some stage see the monies on account taken off my liability for this years return, before I press the final "go with throttle up" filing button!
I am aware that part of my return this year will include monies on account for next year.
Many thanks for reading,
Rick.

It doesnt it calculates your tax based on the info that you put on the return, it doesnt take into consideration any Payments on account you may have made.
I would submit it then either log in again later to check the situation or ring your tax office after 48 hrs of submission and get them to confirm the figs due.0 -
Hi, after submitting my online return, the site came back with my total owed within 24 hrs - the date on the HRMC site is minus one day.0

Hello again,
Thanks to all who have replied so far, very much appreciated.
Hi Hestia,
If you had monies on account, and you had paid your tax owing immediately after filing your return, I'm guessing you would either have paid too much if you paid what the Revenue said you owed, or, the Revenue would have showed an outstanding balance to pay before 31 Jan 09 if you had manually deducted any monies on account.
Not that I'm going to leave this up to the eleventh hour, but for those who wait to file right up to the last moment, they will have to face this problem.
Does that read ok, or doesn't that make any sense!
Thanks again to everyone,

but for those who wait to file right up to the last moment, they will have to face this problem.
As the saying goes ... 'it's not a problem - it's designed that way' (and always has been).
The online filing system is offline to the SA accounting system .... in order peaks of activity on either don't adversely affect the performance of the other. The online system will push completed Returns onto the accounting system overnight in Batch mode - and drag back accounting data in return. So if you log back in .... it should show the complete data the following day .... provided you have released the Return.
Can't be categoric if it does cache some data for Returns past the calculation point ... but not released? If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
It doesn't but don't worry0
