I've never really had holidays. Last one was a week in the UK in 1995. I used to never be able to afford them. Now I have time and money I see no joy in going somewhere alone at all.when its like this it is important to take a break from of it all..spend a few days away as it will still be here when you get back..anyone going away in the holidays? i live for mine.....
I'd go if I had a reason to.0 -
Cheer up. Of the 5 house for sale on our street, there isn't a single one with an asking price of less than £300,000.
Standard semis on standard 1950s post-WW2 estate in the suburbs, in a neighbourhood of average earners, in the North.
Surely such magnificent optimism more than outshines the doom and gloom.
I thought you lived in Hale
must have got it wrong. 'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

There are 1950s houses in Hale/Altrincham as well
- but is it just nearly the entire South Manchester area which seems crazy for prices... Didsbury, Wilmslow, Alderley Edge that trip me out, and convince me not all are worried about gloomy prospects. 0 -

Tell you what, try Moss Side, Chorlton on Medlock or Ardwick, I am sure you will find something within your budget
Like comparing Park Lane/Mayfair ( you know those expensive ones on Monopoply) with Hackney. 'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. Yes we are also tired of the doom and gloom but it is happening all around us and we cannot get away with it. We have paid people off and i feel rotten. Someone that used to work with us has said that he has phoned about 100 people for jobs and none going. He said he is now going to see if he can get work in a pub (although i do not hold out much). People around us are now getting the picture (only just) that we have been telling them since last year. Things are about to get tight but what can we do. We just need to get on with it.0

I'm feeling quite casual about it all... my mortgage is cheap, lodgers are plentiful and I can live on "free" eggs if I have to! I've just accepted a new job in a company that looks comparatively recession-proof and comes with a payrise
- combine that with lower taxes and we're onto a winner.
Of course the new job does come with a four-month trial period, so maybe I'm insane to move just now, but hey - if I end up unemployed, I'll concentrate on my part-time jobs as a model, a security guard and an artist
I don't need much to survive... Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
My boss has been living the high life and now he's getting worried which in turn makes me worried about my job. He has overstretched himself with a £1.3m house paying £3000 a month mortgage, £1200 for two cars for him and his wife. It's easy not to fret when you have a bit of money for those that haven't it can get you down.0

Doom and Gloom??
People still think their houses are worth more than they are
EA are still lying
The Goverment is still messing things up
Figures for crime/unemployment is still being fiddle in one way or another
Britian has still got troops fighting (iraq/afghan before that was sierre leone before that was kosovo before that was bosnia before that was the gulf war before that was falklands before that was northern ireland and on and on)
Houses are still getting repo'd
people with tin hats are still saying the end is nigh
So nothing has changed in my book
Oh and I forgot the weather forcast is still saying its going to be cold...or wet and its the worst ever recordedIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -
I love all this talk of being positive. But people forget that you cant have a positive slant on everything. Without bad there is no good as there is no comparison.0
