Credit rating outside UK

My Family & I have moved to Canada 7 months ago and are in the process of trying to buy a house. My husband is the only one that can apply for a mortgage as he's the only one working in the family. So as we are new to the country and my husband is only on a temporary work permit we are advised by our mortgage broker to get my Husbands credit rating from back home in Scotland.
We have started to get good credit here by getting a car loan (never missed a payment) and a credit card, which we are using and paying off in good time.
I have web addresses to 3 of the main credit scoring companies but they want to know our address back home, as they assume you are applying from the U.k. I can't even pretend we live there as he have sold it.
I can't think of any other way of getting my Husbands credit score or rating.
If anyone knows of another way around please let me know! I am probably over lookng something so obvious that I can't see it!
Thanks

Hmmm, racking my brains, but it is possible I think. If I remember correctly, you will have to write to and give them your previous addresses in the UK along with all your relevant addresses for the last six years. Also I think I am right in saying that as you are outside of the UK, you do not have to pay for this, although I stand to be corrected.
It would be worth your while calling at least Equifax and Experian, the two main reference agencies and asking them the process.
Be very careful about linking any addresses where there may be any adverse information. Are both you and your OH's files clean?
Hope this helps!Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

I'm sorry, I don't apologise. That's just the way I am. Homer (Simpson)0 -
Thanks for the reply.
Yes we are pretty clean apart from a few missed payments of credit cards . Never missed the major loan or mortgage payment when we had them back home!
We really want to get a mortgage as soon as possible but if it means waiting then that is what we have to do. Life is never easy!! I will get my Husband to call the agencies!
