My Day In Court

Hi Everyone,

Well thats part one over, arrived in court at 9.25, we were taken into a room by a woman, who we thought was quite a snotty and looked down on us, but in the end she had a bit of a laugh and was quite pleasant. we went through forms, a few trivial mistakes later and we were told to go out for an hour get a coffee, so maccie d's it was. We also went to a couple of shops and bought some stuff for our eldest son with his xmas vouchers, this must have looked bad at BR hearing having shopping bags with us!! anyway i deviate, went back at 11.15, and called into the judge at 12pm. he was polite but stuck to his questions. have you sought advice, when and why did it happen, and then outlined basically the effects of BR and the job of the OR, 5 minutes later we were out Debt free!, Being a 2nd timer i knew the court process wasnt a worry, MRS H was panicking though. Whats worrying me though is my Interview with OR.

So now we go and wait for OR to ring, 12.45 we speak to an examiner lady, very nice and polite, and again had a bit of a laugh on the phone. She started by speaking to MRS H, and then me, went through some basic questions and told us that we would probably both have Phone Interviews! I was amazed and somewhat releived. I explained that i was BR in 98, but she said as it was so long ago it wouldnt affect things. gave us our dates in early FEB and that was it. they took the handcuffs off (just a joke for any newbies)! and off we went, both very releived people.

I learnt one piece of valuable advice today:

If you are in an IVA whether you are paying or not, the judge will not grant your BR unless it has officially failed and you have a certificate to prove it, he very nearly adjourned our case because of this, but i managed to convince him that ours had definately failed and a certificate issued, although i have never received one.
