Go to Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool or London (biggest falls) then. :D

sorry Brit my rents in London are either the same or anywhere up to 10% less but that is due to me dropping the price to avoid any voids eather than "a massive collapse in rental values"

this was one of your better attempts by the way.

I live in Manchester and haven't seen any real drop in rental prices. A decent two bed flat in the centre will still cost you around £700 upwards which is pretty much the same as it was two years ago when we moved here and were deciding whether to rent or buy.

Even the pre-fab crappy buildings seem to be holding their rental values. God knows how.

The guy was a moron. The whole thing didn't stack up. Rental values are considerably higher now than in the early 90's. One minute the guy was talking about being repossessed and the next thing about buying.

come on Steve - it's a Brit post!!!

he's the man that believes all of the 9/11 conspiracies and that Elvis is still alive!!!

Do you really believe the 9/11 conspiracies Brit?

I know you can get some very complex and expensive testing to check for mental deficiency, but I think if you find people with the opinion that the 9/11 attacks were an "inside job" you have yourself a very cheap, quick and highly effective way of weeding out the more mentally unstable in our communities.

Now I can pretty much see through a lot of conspiracy theories but this one has strong likelihood of occurring in comparison with the given account.

Before you right me off as a conspiracy nut I just want to give you some of my background....
    and the rest!!

'massive collapse in rental values' is very much exaggerated

Not much change where i am.

Give it time. I always indicated rents will collapsing all around the country. Banks are crippled, the economy is fubar and getting worse.

Then lets see if the BTL landlords can service their mortgages. Even cautious landlords who've been at it for decades can see themselves wiped out if they've bought in the boom.... as lenders come looking to recover the debts owed from wherever the individual has assets to recover money from.

If landlords can't pay their debts, but don't think it is fair, try giving the sob-story to the meat-head bailiffs as they come for the portfolio and your own home. BTL... mugs game.

17:30 mins in and 5 mins long

Seriously... that BTL landlord needs to be taken down.

13 properties and working all sorts of explanations and sob-stories to his lenders and the court to help stop repossession.

He has taken ownership of 13 properties !!!!!!. Properties which could have been on the market at sensible prices for individuals to have as their own home.. this guy and many like him have soaked up with borrowed money... and is now whining has unfair and difficult life is for him.

    Get him repossessed.

I see you have decided not to agree withe the OP's assertion regarding the CURRENT situation, good for you it would have been rather foolish to put your name to such rubbish and you would have lost some credability too.

Agreed, the guy is a total moron, shame on the BBC for showing it, they obviously went out of their way to make things look a lot worse. But the real thing is that they thought the public would be gullible enough to believe it as a TYPICAL case (I really don't think the OP belived it either, I mean how could he)

Good program so far. That presenter is cute (the woman!).

BTL Landlord says only buy if 2 out of the 4 D's are present:
    Death
    Divorce
    Delapidation
    Debt
    Happy chappy
