Another Newbie really need advice

Hi everyone I need you help and advice.
I'm currently in debt about 19,500 and I'm seriously thinking about br. I'll make a long story short.
I have one bank loan, 3 cc and 2 catalogues. Everything was fine working full time, partner one child.
I then changed jobs and thats when my problems started I found out I was pregnant with my second child and I was dismissed from my job for that reason, I found it difficult to get another job, my partner was working but bringing in a very low wage. My partner then changed his job but we were behind with our regular bills rent, council tax etc, so in Feb 2007 I stopped paying all my debts and basically went into hiding. I changed my phone no and any letters I got I ripped them up and threw them in the bin, if anyone called to the house that I didn't know I used to say to them that I was called something else and say I was away.
I moved house last year and the letters and phone calls have started again and my daughter picked up one of the letters and was reading it I was so ashamed.
I never wasted the credit as such the catalogues were used to buy furniture for the house we were renting, the credit cards were used for food shopping, dentist and utilities. I did try and set up a dmp but was told because I had less than £100 to give them they wouldn't help me.
So my questions are:
1. Can I go br
2. Will my furniture be taken
3. I don't have any statements for the debts I have to show what I spent it on will this matter?
4. Is my partner and 3 children responsible for my debts.
5. Will the court take a dim view because I have left it so long.
6. Will my partners wages be used to cover the debts as I only have cb and ctc as I'm not working and at home with the kids.
My partner is working and he recieves the working tax.
I hope this makes sense and someone can point me in the right direction
I know I will probably have loads more questions and will apprieciate any help and advice you can give me.
Thanks in advance

So my questions are:
1. Can I go br yes you can, but have you looked at all your options?
2. Will my furniture be taken no it wont unles its valuable
3. I don't have any statements for the debts I have to show what I spent it on will this matter? no, as the OR will just write to the compnies concerned
4. Is my partner and 3 children responsible for my debts. No not if there in your name
5. Will the court take a dim view because I have left it so long. no you wont be the first to bury your head if you pardon the expression, weve al done it, including me, you will find the court very supportive and helpful
6. Will my partners wages be used to cover the debts as I only have cb and ctc as I'm not working and at home with the kids. yes you will show his wage on your income and expenditure form, child benefit is not counted twds any payment plan if you post your income/expenditure on here someone will help, us www.makingsenseofcards.co.uk to do this
I hope the above helps, if im wrong about anything im sure i will be corrected.
My partner is working and he recieves the working tax.
I hope this makes sense and someone can point me in the right direction

Hi, welcome to the forum
don't feel guilty, I know it is easier said than done and I do feel the same as you, I have two little ones and I went BR.
Hadenoughnow has given some good advice, the only thing I can ask or add is - Have you taken professional advice from National Debtline or CCCS or CAB about your situation and whether BR is the best option for you?
If you have then that's great and start reading all you can about BR on this board and ask away with any questions you have.
