Help!
I work in a shop Tue - Fri (inclusive) - 7 hours a day. How much holiday entitlement am I entitled to? (my colleagues who work 5 days a week get 25 days hol)
My normal day off is a Monday does this effect my holiday entitlement i.e Bank hols and calculation of days pro rata?

At a rough calculation I would say 20 days annual leave. Regarding bank holidays it depends on the company policy. Companies I have worked for have given me bank hols to use on another day as Monday was my day off others haven't.2013 Free Money - £363.44 Topcashback

From 1st April min statutory holiday is to go up to 28 days, working on this I think you are entitled to approx 22.4 days leave. Even though you don't work on a Monday as this is your day off you are entitled to this as a paid holiday. However, the company can include bank holidays as part of your holiday entitlement. ie You may get 18 days holiday + 10 bank holidays) My company gives us the bank holidays as extra.
I work annualised hours and only work min hours during school holidays. As I work an average of 24.76 per week (my total yearly hours divided by 52) I am entitled to 113 hours per year (i work shift so we divide it down into hours). I am then allocated 40 hours for bank holidays (pro-rated because I am part-time) I then have to deduct any hours where a bank holiday falls on day thats not a school holiday. ie the only one I had to deduct was the early may bank holiday because the schools are only on holiday as its a bank holiday.
Hope this helps.0 -
your colleagues are getting 5 weeks off,so your 5 weeks works out, that you should get 20.TO FINISH LAST, FIRST YOU HAVE TO FINISH....0

Do you have a written contract? If so, what does it say your holiday entitlement is:
Companies do not have to give you bank holidays off. However, if all the other staff have this day off then you should also get it off.
Look at the following website which will give use useful information:
www.adviceguide.org.uk - under employment. If this doesn't help, I suggest you visit your local Citizen's Advice Bureau and take with you all relevant paperwork.

I used to be in this situation re bank holidays - strictly speaking your paid bank holiday entitlement should be pro rata to that of your colleagues. ie if they get 10 you'd get 8. Usually it's done in hours - unfortunately because a lot of bank holidays are on Mondays you could end up owing your employer!0

I'd suspect the ability of any payroll department which created such a result!0 -
Civil Service did it this way in 1990's! Nuff said......0

Its true, you can end up owing them but I am really not sure how that figure gets arrived at.
I get something like 40 hours for bank holiday, I then have to take off the hours I would normally work (thats not in school hols), so I take off 5 leaving 35 hours to add to my holiday entitlement. If I worked through school hols normally I would have to take them off and I would possibly end up owing them. I think its something to do with the fact that Bank Holidays can be included as part of your statutory holidays. ie they don't have to give you 24 days + Bank Holidays. I think this only applies though when you are part time.£2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far

By that I mean that on our intranet site there is only a bank holiday calculator for people who work part time.£2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far
