They are sweet. You could use newspaper in them if you have a daily paper - would save you buying the rice.

I really like them, but I do wonder if the rice will be too heavy for tights? I'm looking forward to reading your progress.
  • well i thought it would be which is why i am going to use over the knee socks, you can still get them in some fun patterns and quite cheap. Knee High socks are to short for my door though as I have tried but could be good for small windows.

Cous Cous could work as well for the filling, I seem to have a few packets in my cupboard which i never use so will try that and let you know how it works.

My mum made one years ago and when she went in a care home and the house was cleared I couldn't bear to part with it so its upstairs with the hoard of other stuff. She stuffed it with old tights I think.
It doesn;t look very appealing (mum was always for practical before pretty) but I could easily cover it and cope one of the designs on the site.
We're going to see my son in Sussex in the summer. I could give it to him as a late birthday pressie or early christmas - he'd be so thrilled it was his nans and it keeps it in the family.............sounds daft but we're soft like that.:rotfl:

You can make these draught excluders for children and teens by stuffing these over the knee socks that are fashionable at the moment and decorate them to match the owner! They would then think it was cool to use them and not embarrassing if their friends saw them!! (especially teens) E.G.
children - bright stripes with googly eyes and ears for creepy crawlies, snakes or pets
Older children - Girls pink and girly and add a ballet shoe or lace or ribbon or white and add a dressing up shoe like Cinderella!
Boys blue or team colours, add a trainer or football boot, or Commando colours and decorate with medals or netting!
Teens - any thing goes depending on what they are into, black or stripey covered in skulllls etc for Emo look, girly,as above, laddish could be single colour and covered in band badges or car badges
You get the idea, let your imagination go and create one for the person instead of the room!

You would just stuff the sock and it would look like a leg unless you were turning it into a creature then the heel would be the top of the head and the toe the mouth end!

Sorry:o. I am thinking I may have to swap my note book of ideas for a roll of wallpaper! My list grows longer and longer and I may not have to think of another one ever again haha

  • that's some really good ideas she_grinch.

I agree about using over the knee socks, makes them less likely to rip as well, which tights can do so easily as most of us will know.
