could anyone help please re payment protection?

Hello all,
I wondered if anyone could be kind enough to help me please?
My husband took out a loan with the Halifax approx 7 years ago which we are paying £250.00 per month including payment protection, I have been ill for a number of years but a couple of years later I became too ill to take care of myself & my husband had to leave work to become my full time carer, we are on benefits & are really struggling to pay this each month. Does anyone know what our rights are with the payment protection please? any help would be so much appreciated.
Love n hugs
Vicky

Why haven't you claimed on the PPI before now? That is exactly what it is designed for, to cover your repayments if you can't work.

I'd doubt the PPI would cover having to leave work to become a carer though (sounds like the PPI is just in the husbands name)
  • we weren't aware he had signed up for it eeeks

The poster says "years later I became too ill to take care of myself & my husband had to leave ". I wonder if she herself became ill. And if this insurance is in the husbands name was he working when this was taken out I wonder.
  • hi there, i have had a look at documents & he should have claimed within a certain amount of time so we will just have to carry on struggling :(
yes dealwithit i became ill, the insurance is in my hubbys name & he was working at the time. not to worry it seems there's nothing we can do until it's paid off dec 2010.
Thank you all so much anyway

If you didn't know that you had it, you could possibly claim that it was mis-sold...
