Abbey mortgage advise

please help, took out an interest only mortgage with Abbey in June 2008, the paper work went through as repayment at the Abbey, have had a number of letters stating they are at fault and will refund the £400 per month extra we're paying but still nothing has been resolved, not sure what else to do my IFA is trying to get answers but everyone dealing with our case seems to be on holiday/out the office/in a meeting about our case or unable to discuss it at the moment because internal investigations about the case are on going....anyway got a call this morning asking if we'd agree to a further credit check by the Abbey WHY?
Any advise would be welcome.
