Join the Grocery Challenge - there are families of all shapes and sizes there, all setting a budget for their monthly groceries and challenging themself to stick to it. You will be able to find someone with a similar family to yours.

Also check the Meal Plans thread for tips on menu-planning - this really does help cut your bills dramatically! And also the Storecupboard Challenge to use up what you already have.

    Good luck! :)
  • There's 1 adult and 2 kiddies here and I spend approx £50 a week but I could easily bring that down by planning properly, the biggest expenditure is both my kiddies are still in bedtime pants and they aren't cheap and my son is a very fussy eater and will never eat what me and his sister eat so most nights I will cook 2 different meals, other times we will have what he has.

I need to meal plan properly and use every last bit as well as I can, it's difficult because I've never had to do that but I'm adament we can do this x

  • Have a look at this site and then put a plan into action and you could get that grocery-bill down to £100 a month:

I spend around £250 per month for 2 teenagers and myself, we all take packed lunchs. In January I spend next to nothing as I empty the freezer and cupboards.
Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.

when we just had 1 child, i used to budget £100 for he 3 of us, but prices have gone up a bit lately.

i on average spend between £40 and £50 for 2 adults and 3 children. i cook everything from scratch and we eat very well, plus hubby and 2 children have packed lunches.
