I aim for £320 for 3 adults and 1 dog with a 4th adult when he is home from uni.
Making things from scratch is the way to bring bills down and to menuplan. When I don't plan my shop is more expensive and I never have food for the recipes I want to cook.0 -
I spend approx £55 a week for two adults, We have three cats but fortunately I don't feed them and my housemates do!
This includes all cleaning products, toileteries and other bits for the house.
We both work rather odd shifts, we eat all three meals at home, breakfast lunch and dinners, also we regularly have guests, particularly my niece and nephew who seem to be bottomless pits!
This also includes any other random bits for the house, but does not include alcohol or takeaways..0 -
Good afternoon everyone,
Just a quick question for those who don't mind. I am looking to get an idea of what other peoples grocery and cleaning budgets are. In our household there are two adults and a toddler.
I do already budget and usually manage to stick to it but I am really trying to knuckle down as our debt is really bothering me. I guess what I am after is to see if I am already spending less than most or whether I can squeeze more money from this spending area.
So if you dont mind, could you tell me....Your family size, £ per week/month grocerys and £ per/week month cleaning etc. (seperatly if you can)
I know you have all probably answered these type of questions before so apologies for boring the hind legs off a donkey.March'13 - Debt £13000 :eek:Total % paid - 0%0 -

If you havent already ...I would suggest joining us on the grocery challenge thread...it really helps you to focus on what you spend. I too spend very little on cleaning products..stardrops, laundry gloop and white vinegar are far better then bought ,expensive cleaners xFeeding 6 Adults 1 Teen a 8 year old with hollow legs and a very fussy 5 year old. Just remember its not a competition - start by working out what you spend now then reduce til you find a point YOU and YOUR FAMILY are comfy with. Some people spend less than us but I'm not prepared to go lower and we can afford what we spend.People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

Totally agree rachbc..it has to be geared to what suits your family...we are having to cut down due to losing sons DLA in April which also will affect Tax Credits...his condition if anything is worse but there you go...spend a fortune getting to hospitals etc so have to cut back elsewhere.
Start slowly and cutting back gradually seems to be the key xxFeeding 6 Adults 1 Teen a 8 year old with hollow legs and a very fussy 5 year old. Also 3 cats and 3 fishies
