Injury at work - will they treat it sympathetically?

I work in a supermarket. On Monday, whilst I was moving tins around so I ciuld see I could put a case onto the shelves, a customer accidently dropped a tin onto my foot. It only hurt for a minute or two at the time. Then on that evening when I finished work, my foot began to hurt like crazy and became puffy and swollen. Managed to get a GP appt for the following day and been prescribed some strong painkillers which haven't worked. Wednesday, the puffiness disappeared and a massive bruise has appeared on parts of the top of the foot which didn't have the puffiness. I had Tues and Wed as days off. I reporrted the incident to a first aider and recorded it.
Thursday, I struggled and was crippled in pain. I would have asked to go home, but my team were already 2 down.
Now my pain has gone to the base of my foot.
Now I am on my propationary period and I don't want to have my propationary period affected by this accident. There are no light duties I can do as it all is about pushing trolleys full of boxes, bending down and standing on kick stools to put stuff on top shelves.
I would love to report this earlier but as I said the pain only lasted a couple of minutes after the impact and had two days off as planned. As the accident happened at work, would I get treated more sympathaticly than it happened outside of work? As it was a geniune accident done by a 3rd party, would it be looked at differently? I am attempting work today but as soon as pain kicks in, I will say I had enough as I hardly slept last night due to the pain and all work is on your feet all of the time.
Thanks

Exactly when was the accident recorded in the accident book? The reason for asking is that your employer could turn round and say that you injured yourself at home. Ensure that the First Aider recorded the accident in the book as the injury occurred on work's premises.
Have you been to your local hospital for an x-ray or some treatment? Go now if the pain is that bad.
I wouldn't have thought that your employer would penalise you for being injured at work - if in doubt speak to your boss about it.0 -

I did get the incident recorded onto the accident book on Thursday as the prev days were days off.
I even asked my manager, who wasn't in yesterday, could I go home as the pain is crippling me and he said no. I cannot believe why he isn't allowing me to go home. Other managers who were in yesterday know of my ankle. I can only get authority from my manager to go home, if he's in. Store manager will say, you have to get the OK with your manager.
At the moment I am writing this at my lunch break at the library over the road from work.
I will go to A&E this evening and see what the medics etc say about this."The reason we're successful, darling? My overall charisma, of course." -- Freddie Mercury

Could you get a doctors appointment instead? As your GP has seen your injury, I think he would be better placed to advise further. Did he mention what to do if the pain was intolerable or it got worse?Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0
