Looking for a Electric Toothbrush...

Hi

After a recent visit to the dentist and wanting to buy one for ages, I have decided to buy a electric toothbrush. Any ideas where I can buy a fairly decent one at a reasonable price?

I came across a Oral B toothbrush to give perfect white teeth, is this just a gimmick or does it really work? Any advice appreciated.

Apparently I just missed out on a Superdrug offer where they had discounts on a few, so any other offers around would be great!

TIA

I will never go back to using a manual toothbrush!

Ive been using an electric toothbrush for the last few years and i would say buy an averge priced one.The cheapest aint necessarily the best and last about a year before you notice it doesn't charge as well, doesn't brush as well as it did when new etc

The one i am using at the moment is the oral b professional care 7000, which is so much better than the one i had before (which was an oral b-but cheaper version). It has a pressure sensor, so you don't brush too hard; has two speeds and 8800 oscillations.

Just a minor suggestion-get one with a timer-believe it or no, not all of them have a timer.
Also, the heads for these brushes are often on offer...so you shouldn't have to buy single brushes (which are quite expensive)

    I've been Money Tipped!
I managed to pick this one up in Boots for about £10. They had an offer on at the time that gave me a £10 off voucher too.

If you have a Lloyds Chemist nearby it may be worth checking out too as I picked up the battery powered one of the one in the link for £3.99 a piece, got two for my boys.

This one looks quite a good one too.

Whitening toothpastes I have seen reviewed are the Beverly Hills toothpaste which was reviewed on GMTV one time and it came tops against Rembrandt toothpaste at £8 a tube, Beverly Hills is about £3 odd a tube depending on where you get it. I got Blanx toothpaste and it does work too. One thing is for sure, once you start using an electric toothbrush, you won't go back to a normal toothbrush.

I also use a Waterpik too, they had an offer in Boots recently 3 for 2 on dental products etc. This leaves your teeth feeling super clean.

Clean teeth with the electric brush, floss, then rinse with Dentyl PH mouthwash which is better than Listerine or any of the other mouthwashes which burn your mouth, and finish off with the Waterpik, it is brilliant and leaves your mouth and teeth feeling super clean.
Depending on which brush you get, Tescos and Boots often have offers on the brush heads so stock up. Boots have four at the moment for £10, but had a better offer a week or so ago, 8 for around £2.15 each I think it was.

Got mine off eBay - a brand new one I hasten to add! Think it was about £7 for a Braun battery one. Does the job fine. I also bought rechargeable batteries off there so I can just recharge and carry on using them when they run out.

Never buy anything other than an Oral-B. That's what my hygienist said and I agree. There are good ones to be had from about £9.99 - the replacement heads are not cheap but they are very good.

Check they're genuine. there have been cases of fake Oral B heads.

Unfortunatly, I don't know how to tell the difference, but cheaper packaging with poor printing would make me suspicious.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

Another big thumbs up for Oral-B - had 3 over the past several years. Superb cleaning, particuarly the 3D oscillating type. After dropping one on a hard floor recently and having to replace, I plummed for a 7500 which was in the Argos sale at £32. If you buy at the right time, there are usually some 2half price" deals which mean they start from under a tenner. Don't bother with battery operated, go for rechargeable.
