I sometimes put unpaid work experience under the heading of:
Work or Employment History, especially if I haven't got much paid work (or any) in the area I am applying to.
Yes - and an even better heading is "Experience" (because Employment does suggest paid work but experience is just that, experience).0 -
I am a recruiter for a major High Street company and this is what I like to see on a CV: -
Personal Statement
Core skills & competencies
Employment History
(with bullet points under each job detailing what your main duties are)
Education History
Contact Details
Thats it. I don't need to know about anyones interests or hobbies, lol. Make sure its no longer than 2 sides of A4. Double & triple check your spelling. I get so many CV's loaded with spelling mistakes.
Last year I was getting on average about 20 CV's per vacancy. Since last month I am getting 80+ CV's for each vacancy. This means that we are getting stricter & stricter on our screening criteria so you really need to make sure your CV is perfect and details everything you think is relevant on it. Make sure you tailor your CV to each job you apply for. If you are applying for a sales job, and I can't see you've done sales (even if you have) then it'll go straight to the 'no' pile.
If you want me to have a look at your CV then let me know and i'll gladly give you some pointers
