I totally agree with Susiesue, and she is an expert!
My sister is a podiatrist and recommended CCS cream for my feet. It has a high percentage of urea and is a miracle cream. Sorted my feet out in about a week. I occassionally use a foot file and then use this cream. Boots also does a version of this cream that is cheaper but just as good.
I get ezcema and I tried putting this cream on it and it soothed it immediately and after a few days that patch of ezcema had gone. Have had creams etc from the doctor that don't work half as well.Save £4000 for tuition fees by Sept '09:rolleyes:Lose 2 stones by May:eek: -21lbs Get married for less than £5000 in May:smileyhea

I had never heard of CCS cream, I shall mentally 'bookmark' it for when my umpteen creams run out, thanks.

just to reiterate what susie sue said ...I recently saw a chiropodist over alot of hard skin on my feet (first noticed by my PE teacher in school during foot checks for veruccas) which I've always had and was referred to an orthopoedic surgeon as the hard skin was caused by compensating for my feet turning outwards because of congenitally short achilles tendons. I've just had the first of two operations to correct this and months of physiotherapy ahead.
All of this would have been easier to sort out as a child rather than in my forties and would have been diagnosed earlier if I hadn't "money saved" with foot scapels etc for many years.0 -
i found the problem with mine was from bad shoes... once they had split and i changed shoes the 'hardness' went.0

I got some today and my feet are lovely and soft now.0 -
ccs cream is available from boots and most chiropodists sell it too. i'm sold out at the min and waiting for a delivery. my patients love it. if you have "normal" skin its still a good idea to moisturize and good old aqueous cream will work a treat. it really really works well and this is the cheapest cream on the market. body lotions are too watery to use on feet as the skin on the sole of the foot is different to the rest of your body so needs something with a bit of body to it.
vaseline is ok but is a barrier cream and can leave your feet greasy which can cause feet to slip and slide in your shoes.
a big cause of callus is also loss of fatty tissue on the bottom of your feet. a pod can give advise about this and recommend the appropriate action.susiesue

Talking of foot creams, I know this is not relevant as the product isn't available, but I wonder if some of our pro-experts here might know of something similar...
Years ago we had in Streatham an imitation Body Shop (Brixton had the real thing, of course), and they sold a foot oil which contained peppermint and camphor. I suffered with sweaty feet (to put it bluntly) which were prone to niffing nastily, but after I'd been using this oil after showering each day, the problem was completely cured. It also conditioned my toe-nails nicely. During the Thatcher slump the shop (The Body & Face Place?) joined the others on the High Road with boarded up fronts
I've since tried to buy camphor oil, which we always had in the house when I was a child, but no local chemists have stocked it. I had hoped to make my own miracle foot oil by adding it to a Body Shop one.
My feet have never reverted to their pre-camphor condition, though with the hot flushes they still get pretty wet at times.

Until I read this thread I had never heard of CCS cream, so thanks for drawing it to my attention.
I was going to recommend Eucerin Intensive 10% lotion because that has the highest urea level of any cream I know. I don't know what the level is in CCS cream, but it sounds like it must be pretty high too.
Anyway its an alternative suggestion if you none of the other ideas work.Student of the science of beauty0
