If you like me have an engineering background (Now where have I left that greasy ring spanner?) The strange freemasonry of PPE stands for Philosophy, Politics & Economics.

Economics, the dismal science, is the study of man about his daily business.
Philosophy is about arguing logically - even drawing little engineering diagrams to prove you are doing it correctly.
I haven't a clue what Politics is about - perhaps its all about learning our broken system is the best in the world?

Not really. It's what you get in a democracy like the UK where the executive is taken exclusively from the legislature.

But then, I can't think of any "experts" who would have a clue how to get us out of this mess either :(.
