Lard and pork scratchings

Good morning!
It was pointed out to me that some of my posts were off topic, so I removed them.
It has subsequently been pointed out to me that this now looks strange.
Apologies to everyone who's now confused - I've tried my best to do the right thing here.

How do you render the fat to make the lard? I can remember my grandmother making lard but that's been many, many years ago but have no idea how she did it. I use lard as my fat in most pie crusts. I get it from cooltown for 29p per block so wondering if it would be more cost effective to render my own.thriftlady wrote: »I wonder how long it'll be before someone comes along to tell us how bad for us it is.Take the first step.

It's the exercise that 's different. When, when out parent, and people of my age ate chips fried in lard we also worked a lot harder.
My first job was in the 70's was making kerb stones, by hand. I walked 2 miles to work, spent the morning lifting kerb stones out of the moulds and carrying them to the drying pallets. The afternoons were spent mixing concrete, with a shovel not a mixer, and refilling the moulds. Then I'd walk the 2 miles home, have my tea and walk 3 miles to my GF's house to pick her up. At the end of the evening it was a 3 mile walk home.

And beer, don't forget that. Fifteen pints of beer never hurt anyone.0 -
