No pension at 60

Lady of 60, paid no contributions so cannot get pension based on that. Husband still works and also gets a pension from previous job. Can she get some sort of income support or do they take husbands income into consideration? don't know any facts about the income but they are not an affluent family.

How old is the husband? If he is over 65 and claiming state pension, then she can get a 60% pension based on his contributions. His income will be taken into consideration in any benefits claim she might make (eg for pension credit).
    Trying to keep it simple...;)

He isn't 65 yet. Thank you for the info.
  • I think if he is not 65 then she will have to wait until he is, then she will be able to claim 60% of his pension.

Other than that I don't htink there is anything as other Benefits are means-tested.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton
