Printer job won't cancel!

I have a print job that's been pending all morning, I have given up and don't want to print it any more. However it won't cancel! I have right clicked on the job, selected 'cancel' then selected 'yes I'm sure' but nothing happens. I've also tried 'cancel all documents', nothing happens. The status on the job is 'Deleting - Printing'. Nothing else will print until I get rid of this! Can anyone help please?

    Windows XP professional?

If so, start a command prompt, and type "net stop spooler"., press enter. Then "net start spooler" and eneter again, see if that shifts it. Failing that, reboot.

sometimes you have to turn the printer off and on again between the "net stop spooler" and "net start spooler" since the printer has stored some of the print in it's memory and will keep asking for the remainder (so the job stays stuck in the print job list.)

I have this all the time with my HP printer and have learnt that what I need to do is this.

Once you've told it to delete the print job, it needs to clear the memory of what it's supposed to be printing. On my printer there is a "resume" button (it's actually the ON/Resume button). I have to press resume and it will print whatever is left in the memory - usually just a few lines - and once that's printed the print job is then deleted.

    I'm using Windows XP.

Thanks Sirbendy, that's sorted it. And now I know what a command prompt is too :T !

    Thanks everyone.
