Hello..again...I went to sort out my mortgage which has been accepted. I was honest and told the lady that I had given back the keys to a previous mortage (joint) due to divorce in 1993. It didn't seem to bother her. Now I have the form and it is asking me outright...Have you ever had a mortgeg previously? and Have you ever been voluntarily repossessed? What should I do? AND what are the implications if I say No. Thanks.:p:rolleyes:

You have no choice but to tell the truth, anything other than the truth would be considered mortgage fraud.0

The details will be on your credit record so even if you were to attempt mortgage fraud you would be found out.
Having said that, your past circumstances will not necessarily prevent you getting a new mortgage. Go ahead with the application and see what happens.0 -
I suspect that answering truthfully will mean that you get further questions.
They will probably want to know if your voluntary repo still has any unsettled debt, as there is a risk that the previous lender may attach a charging order on the new property at some point. May not be a show stopper, but they will require further information.

I spoke to my mortgage advisor today and she said that the search had come back as okay so I was fine and that I should not be afraid to write yes on the form. I didn''t owe much money on the old property (never did) and they always knew where I was. The house went to auction and was sold pretty quickly. They then used my insurane to pay off what small amount I owed. If I did owe anything it was under 5K.
As for why would I do anything else - it's because that was then and this is now. My ex was the one who did not keep up the payments (I wasn't working - had 3 young children) as he preferred to spend it on booze. So I don't want his past mistake ruining my future. That's why. I am not a habitual liar - If I were I wouldn't have had a conscience about it and written it.
There but for the grace of God go I.....0 -

Actually I have opened a bank account since, and had 2 credit cards so I don't have a bad credit score. I never had a CCJ either.:j0
