Sorry to change the subject slightly, but I posted this question somewhere else and no-one is talking to me. :'(

This Philishave is a rotary thingy and I also saw on the site some foil thingys........can anyone give me an opinion as to which would be best for a lad who's about to start shaving?

I notice the Philishave is suitable for sensitive skin, which is a good thing but I don't know if I'd be better with this or a foil type?

    ANY advice welcomed. Thanks peeps.

Depends on the person really, i tried both a foil shaver & rotary when i first started and found not much in them really. The foil was slightly better, but both irritated me. In the end i just wet shaved instead and havent bothered using an electric razer since.

Was going to get one myself but it clearly wouldn't fit in my ears or nostrils which is about the only parts that need shaving these days

The foil versus rotary debate will rumble on forever. I have tried both, and seem to get a better result from the foil shavers.

Whatever type you use, it is said that it takes several days for the skin to become used to a new shaver. So the first few uses of any new shaver seem disappointing!

I also have a beard and 'tache, so a foil shaver makes it easier to scrape around the bits I want to keep! They also tend to come with sideburns trimmer.

Courses for horses on this one. Personal preference plays a great part in any selection.

This Phillips is at a great price, though!

  • Excellent - thank you so much for this! Hubby told me last week he'd like one of these and I'd already bought his Christmas pressie too - so this has helped greatly.

Hubbie has tried it today.  He has very sensitive skin and is always a bit red and swollen after wet shaving.  He hasn't used an electric for many years as last electric shaver (rotary philishave) used to make his skin sore.   However 6 hours after using he is smooth as a baby and no redness or sorness.

Also a pretty close shave.  He is well pleased ;D

Wonder what it would be like on my legs LOL ::)
