Has anyone seen the rather patronising adverts from Natwest where they offer a financial review for the customers on how to save money? I believe it is branded as "Moneysense". One has just been on TV where the Natwest employee asks the customer, "So, how do you maybe think you could save money when you eat out? Maybe have just one course?". Or something along those lines.
I know the staff are only doing their job so I don't blame them, but I feel it is rather cheeky for a company to still be running adverts offering prudent, sensible financial advice when they have just posted a UK record £28 billion loss (well, their parent company) due to being complete tools with money.

I was once called in for a review to see if they could 'improve my finances'. Turned out to be just a meeting to consolidate my debts into a new Nat West loan...

I agree Cleaver, and i find the same with Lloyds TSB still advertising personal loans on tv, and ive had a couple of letters recently offering me new financial products, whats wrong with the world? I havent asked for it, neither im sure did the millions of people currently in debt.
Natwest though seem to increase my overdraft every other month, regardless of the fact ive never used it and i have huge savings with them - which if im honest i wouldve moved by now if i knew of a bank where it wouldnt be under threat.0 -
I suspect the Lloyds TSB loan adverts are on the instructions of our glorious leader, to encourage spending, thereby keeping the economy afloat (well, foundering) on its sea of debt...0

There's just been another one on where the advisor makes the suggestion to a customer that she should "Get money out of the bank before you go shopping, only spend that cash and leave your bank card at home so you don't spend more than you have".
The tempting response would be to suggest that they should have left their American Subprime Mortgage Brochure at home so they too could resist temptation.
I'll shut up about this now.0
