Help needed from professional hair colourist please.

I have been tinting my own hair lighter with Marjorel professional products for many years but now I want to know how to dye my husband's moustache & beard to a darker shade. Up until recently his fhair & facial hair was very dark (almost blue black) but now it has gone very white in patches on one side only which looks unbalanced and makes him look odd. I see that there us a Marjorel tint in black available but I need to know what proportion of developer to use (if any). Do I still use peroxide to take hair to a darker shade and if so what volume or proportion? Please do not suggest he shaves it off as I could not bear it having never seen him without!

I would not colour it with hair dye as it might taint or react with the skin!! Use 'Just For Men' moustache and beard colorant which you can get from any pharamacy! A box would last quite awhile!! Get dark brown not black as it will stain the skin badly!! Hope this is of help to you!!:D

to go darker you would use 6% if you are colouring more than 50% grey white you would be better off using 1,0.
Your could use eyelash tint in black this would work well and designed to be use on the face.

Thanks Shegha, Yes he has more than 50% greywhite. Sorry but I am not sure what you mean by 1,0. - Do you mean 2% peroxide? Would be so grateful for clarification. Thanks so much.

you would need 6% peroxide with permant colour. When you buy your shades you will get the base shade which is your depth and then followed by a dash the tone so the ones with a 0 as the tone are designed to cover 50% or more grey as the cover better. So a 1,0 will cover more than a 1 on it own.

This is not a professional opinion, more male to male. I would think very carefully before dyeing facial hair. I have a beard and about 2/3 years ago it started to go more and more grey (in contrast to my hair which remained brown). As a test, I tried dyeing the beard and despite being careful, ended up looking like Ming the Merciless! (the baddie in Flash Gordon in case you don't get the reference). Luckily it was not permanent colour so I could get rid of it after much vigorous washing.
