Thankyou we shall do that then. I just wanted to make sure we get the best possible advice and find the best deal available to us. The main reason I was reluctant to go to a broker was because of the fees that they charge. I didnt want to get ripped off. How much is the average fee from a broker?

It can range from fee free to anything really - as long as it is discussed up front and clear from the outset.

It should be disclosed on the IDD document mentioned above

Phone a few brokers and ask them up front.
You will find that some brokers who used to charge fees no longer do, due to the current climate. They are grateful for any business and income at the moment

And some have never charged fees

Thanks I have googled it and it seems there are quite a few whole of Market brokers who don't charge any fees so I will try one of them. All of the advice I have been given is very much appreciated. I feel alot more confident now going through this process. Thanks everyone x

Can you not ask friends or family?

Just beacuse they are whole of market does not necessarily mean that they will provide a good service - they might - but if someone refers an adviser to you after a good experience it is always better.
