Just had a look at the Direct Gov website and other employment law sites and they all state it depends on your contract, however your employer does not have to give you time off in lieu or pay you for Bank Holidays that fall on a day you would not normally work.

But if you only work Tue-Thur you are not really missing out anyway, as you are off on Mondays and Fridays. If the busines is closed on Bank Holidays then other emplyees have no choice about going in. That is why they don't need to give them to you.
Life is too short to drink bad wine!
  • where I work the part-time staff get 1/5 of their working week back in Leiu time for bank holidays (which equals a full day for full time staff, ie 1/5 of a 5 day week is 1 day, one of our part-time ladies works 3 days a week (24 hours) and gets 4.8 hours back as leiu time)
finally debt free and want to keep it that way!!

Yes you are off but you are still missing out because the full time staff members are being paid for days they are not working and you are not.

My employers have agreed to give me my bank holiday pro rata now so it's 4.8 days i will get.
