Taking away car allowance

Hi, I wonder if someone can help.

A few years ago we were given the option of either taking a company car or receiving a car allowance. I opted for the car allowance. As with a lot of other companies business is slow and we have now been told that our car allowance is being stopped, we can have use of the company pool cars instead of using our own cars.

My question is, can they do this, I have come to rely on the car allowance £300 + £50 petrol per month. This is like taking a salary cut to me. Do I have any ground to object or can they just do this.

As long as they are not asking for you to do any miles in your private vehicle and you will be able to use a company provided vehicle for all business purposes (ie pool car) then its fine.

Thanks Bozo. I am finding it hard as I have come to rely on the car allowance as part of my wage. It will be a big drop for me.
