Second job – tax implications

I’m currently earning £21,500 P/A full time before deductions, if I take on a part time job at £12,000 P/A before deductions what will I be taxed on my second income?
I’m under the impression that as long as my total income is under £34,800 I’ll still be taxed at my current level, is that correct or will I hit Uncle Gordon’s nice shiny new 45% income tax bracket? And if I do hit the upper tax bracket will I be taxed the higher rate on my second income or joint income(!)

you will be taxed at 20% on all the second income
plus 11% NI on the monthly amount above 453 assuming you are paid monthly

You can earn 34,800 plus 6035 = 40,835 before you pay 40% on the excess above that amount.

You need to earn 150,000 before you are lucky enough to pay 45%
