How to cut rice krispie things........

Ok, following some of your gorgeous recipies on here I made some yummy rice krispie things in a baking tray type thing (ok as you can tell Im not exactly a domestic goddess!) I have just spent almost half an hour trying to cut them! Put them in the fridge to harden, lifted them out last night and tried to cut them but couldnt so left them out of the fridge until this morning and they were still almost impossible to cut!

I suffer from Rhuematoid Arthritis so the whole cutting thing can pose problems even on a good day. Does anyone have any hints or tips that might make it easier?

I usually warm the knife under hot water if I'm cutting Chocolate stuff. I have problems with my hands as well. One of the most useful gadgets I have is an electric knife which we bought from Lidl, it's great for cutting bread.

Oh is it like an electirc knife that you use for cutting meat and stuff? We have one of those but I have never taken it out of the box! Lol Never thought of using that!

When I used to make rice krispie stuff in a bakery, we used to cut it when it was just set and that made it easier (and much MUCH easier if it's chocolate coated ;)). You might also find it easier if you add a few more rice krispies, that way you're cutting through more 'air' rather than toffee. You could also add a bit more marshmallow to the mix, again that'll keep it a bit softer than if it's a lot of toffee.

I've not seen the recipe yet (I'll be looking for it as soon as I've finished here!) but unless it's really quite thick this should work - when my nan was suffering with Rhuematoid Arthritis a few years back I got her a pizza cutter, the roller type ones. She found it great and got me to buy more and even take one to a cobbler to be sharpened as the normal ones were great for almost everything except raw meat - she loved getting back in the kitchen and it was great to taste her cooking again!!

Maybe it will help but of course do be careful!!! :)

Perhaps a pizza wheel? I got one from Dyas with a good solid handle which is easy to grip and am surprised at what it will cut through...you just have to put it into the food and push it along :)
