Making the toes of a pair of parade shoes shine?

  • When I was in the Corps I did this: base layers with an ordinary black polish, spit and a yellow duster. Pull it very tight so there's no slack and rub very gently in small circles. Final few layers - cotton wool, Kiwi Parade Gloss and spit, then NO SPITTING just BREATHE heavily on the toecap until it mists over.

I still do this occasionally and my wife finds the spitting disgusting!
