B&Q Gift cards - problems?

I've seen a thread here about B&Q refusing to accept Kingfisher group/Woolworths vouchers, so I took my B&Q-specific Gift card in at the weekend to just check that that worked OK, and it was fine. Bought £22 of stuff, £278 remaining on the card.
However, I've just had a call from the company I got the card from (I redeemed points from a hotel loyalty scheme to get these cards), who rang to say that B&Q will no longer accept these cards and that I should return it to them (the company, not B&Q) for a refund.
Am going to go back into B&Q this weekend and see if I can spend the remaining £278, but just wanted to put anyone with Gift Cards on warning. If anyone knows the reason this is happening, would be interested. Not sure if the issue is with B&Q or with the loyalty scheme.
