Somebody told me today, that they have heard that the "right to buy" scheme for council houses is coming to an end.....is this true?

I haven't heard of any plans to abolish it completely, but I think more councils are designating certain areas as "pressured" which means they can suspend the right to buy in places where they'd be in danger of being left with hardly any houses to rent. I think the rumour you heard is an exaggeration.0

It's still going, but individual councils might be abolishing it - you need to check with your local council.
