i think that as you are married and if you are joint tennants on your mortgage as opposed to tennants in common then if she died the house would revert to you.
As far as divorce goes, you could be up the creek without a paddle once your mortgage is paid.
Is she saying why she wont put your name on the deeds and how come hers was the only one put on originallymake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

you will be able to register your matrimonial home rights at the land registry, simply go online www.landregistry.gov.uk and get the forms or contact your nearest district land registry.

Its unusally for a mortgage to be joint but the house to be owned by only one party... are you absolutely sure about this?0

Yes absolutly sure . When we first got together she had only recently taken out the mortgage with her ex husband, 4 weeks after they moved into this property they started divorce proceedings and he left the family home in the divorce proceedings my wife had his name taken off the mortgage and my name put on the mortgage, she also had his name removed from the deeds to the house and it was then that she refused to put my name on the deeds. Even though we have had a further advance on our mortgage for a loft conversion she still refuses to accept me as joint owner of the house, do I stand any chance of ever having any stake in the house considerng I have jointly paid the mortgage for 13 years ?0

In the event of a divorce a judge would take into account your contributions to the marriage and the mortgage over that 14 years whether you are on the title deeds or not. The house may have been her asset coming into the marriage, however the equity built up over the last 14 years through yuor joint payments to the mortgage would probably be taken into account. Obviously not a lawyer here so do seek independent legal advice from someone who knows what they are talking about (I did study law at university, however what legal training I have is out of date and was primarily based on the Scottish legal system!).0
